BREAKING INTO HOLLYWOOD WITH A SELF-FUNDED SHORT FILM? IMPOSSIBLE!!
Or not…?
Just sent off four and a half minutes of rough cut of Be Careful… – the scene with Lisa Chappell and Craig Hall in the apartment, with flashbacks of Narelle’s stunt fall and the courtroom – to a Screen Innovation Production Fund meeting of Creative New Zealand. Think it looks pretty good, despite no grade or colour correction; no sound mix; no music, etc, etc.
I’ve applied for postproduction funding, but won’t find out if I’ve been successful until some time in May. (My birthday’s in May… what a nice gift that’d be!)
A big thanks to 3rd year editing student Daniel Struthers who got the footage sound synched and into Unitec’s Avid. He also put the cut together and will get credit as Assistant Editor.
Wish us luck!
